The conclusion of the photo exhibition in Germany: Bis zum nächsten Mal, Hamburg!

In the summer of 2023, the B50 team decided to tell about the consequences of the russian invasion of Ukraine and the support of ordinary Ukrainians for the communities affected by the invasion through the media project Chronicles of the Unknown Superheroes Ukrainians. This idea found a response in Hamburg, where it was noticed by the Mahnmal St. Nikolai, which invited in autumn our exhibition to Germany.

The photo exhibition was presented on the second anniversary of the russian invasion. Preparations for the exhibition began in December 2023, when we adapted our photo story to the format of 12 banners, adding to the story of a typical B50 volunteer day personal stories of active community volunteers about how they met the day of 24 February 2022 and how they joined the volunteer movement.

At the opening, which was the result of cooperation between the B50 community, Mahnmal St. Nikolai, and the logistics company Hamburg Harbor and Logistics AG, which financed the production of the banners, B50 volunteers Yuliia Horbasenko and Svitlana Rudokvas presented the exhibition. They not only presented B50’s work, but also gave tours of the exhibition to visitors and gave interviews to the Memorial’s representative.

The photo exhibition ‘Chronicles of the Unknown Superheroes Ukrainians’ lasted for more than four months, until the end of June. It was seen by many visitors: not only guests of Hamburg, which is one of the tourist centres of Germany, but also fans from all over the world who visited the city in June during the Euro 2024 tournament.

Observing how many guests of the city experienced our exhibition and saw with their own eyes what the russian occupiers are capable of and the strength of the Ukrainian people, we hope that our goal of showing the consequences of the invasion and the need to support Ukraine in this fight has been achieved.
