In August, the B50 volunteers did their best – stubbornly helped the residents of the Kyiv region clean up the consequences of the “russian world” and prepare for winter. Most of all visited already native for us Moshchun)))
We spent four summer days (and evenings))) on the roof of a house at 152 Vynohradna Street: we dismantled the remains of the roof and the second floor, made a base for a tarpaulin from boards and, as a result, made a cover that would protect the house from rain and snow.
We also visited Vyshneva Street, 27, where, as a result of the russian invasion, the house of a family with two children was completely destroyed.
One of our volunteers, who wished to remain incognito, was very touched with the history of the family and decided to help. So another modular house appeared in Moshchun. And the B50 volunteers helped to unload and install the new house on their own plot.
In August, they helped to clean Irpin. Three days in the hero city ended with piles of removed bricks and several dismantled buildings. In the last hours of cleaning up Irpen, we ended up in an almost destroyed house at 41 Bagirova Street. The huge basement here saved the lives of at least 100 Ukrainian defenders! As the hostess said, some warriors come to her yard with their families to show the place that saved them from death. Seeing your house in ruins is, of course, hard. However, the owners do not lose optimism, because we, the Ukrainians, built so firmly once, we will build again!
Also, several of our volunteers unexpectedly (although really expected, this is B50)))) met while clearing rubble in Kyiv – they helped the charming Sonia Sotnyk and her team to remove wall fragments that covered the street stage in a cozy courtyard in Podil. There, Ukrainian musicians constantly hold “Na shapku” concerts during the warm season, raising funds for the Armed Forces of Ukraine and various charitable foundations.
In August, there was an interesting experience of cooperation with another organization – 20 activists from the Quarks.tech IT company joined us to clear the rubble. Corporate volunteering works! Gather your colleagues and come with us to do good deeds)
In August 2022, 324 B50 volunteers went out to help 9 times. Summer is over, but our desire to help, our strength and our inspiration are not)))
