The photo exhibition“Chronicles of the Unkown Superheroes Ukrainians”
Traveling media project about ordinary Ukrainians who are lawyers, designers, accountants, and managers for five days a week, trying to live ordinary and fulfilling lives in a world where ballistic missile attacks have become a strange norm, and on weekends they turn into superheroes volunteers.
History of B50
Our community was born in the first days of the full-scale invasion of russian troops on the territory of Ukraine. After all, it was at this time that the future co-founders of the organization met under the walls of the capital headquarters of territorial defense.
The headquarters had a secret address – B50, which is where the name of our community came from. B50 volunteers became one of the first teams to join the cleaning of the de-occupied Irpin, Bucha, Hostomel, and Vorzel. From April 2022, we gather every week to help residents of de-occupied settlements. Most often, we volunteer in the Kyiv region – in Moshchun, Borodianka, Makariv, Horenka and other settlements and regions.
At the turn of 2022-23, the community rethought its activities and scaled the directions of help.
Mission and values of B50
The mission of the community is to restore communities affected by the russian invasion of Ukraine, strengthen their capabilities and minimize the consequences of the war.
Activists of B50 are “reconstruction volunteers” in every sense of the word –
from cleaning and restoring destroyed settlements to reviving the mental potential of Ukrainians.
We are surrounded by activists who highly value:
Equality
Our active volunteers are self-sufficient residents of the Kyiv agglomeration. We have 19-year-old students and 60-year-old pensioners helping side by side. The average age of B50 activists is 38 years.
We disprove the stereotype of “male” and “female” work when helping victims. When distributing tasks, we reject clichés and rely on the wishes of volunteers and their skills.
Initiative
Participation in our volunteer movement is based solely on voluntary interest. Therefore, more than 48% of volunteers help with B50 on a regular basis.
Our activists jointly make decisions, propose improvements, have space to implement their own ideas and projects, and develop leadership qualities.
Patriotism
B50 volunteers regularly support fellow citizens who lost their homes and property due to the armed invasion of the russian federation. We care, we cannot stand aside.
In our activities, we promote Ukrainian aspirations for freedom and kindred work, we return to traditions of housing construction.
Decency
We conduct our activities officially and regularly report by publishing financial and project reports.
We show honestly and transparently where the raised funds
and resources are used. We care about the effectiveness and efficiency of our volunteers. We fully fulfill our obligations to
the affected owners, partners and other beneficiaries.
Organizational structure
and reporting B50
The B50 community is based on a friendly tandem of two officially registered organizations –
the “B50 Volunteers” charitable foundation, which engages in the recruitment of volunteers
and the accumulation of financial contributions, and the “B50” public organization,
which implements separate programs and projects.
Registration documents, financial and project reports are regularly published on the B50 website.
