P.AGE: 50 books for the new LIBRA library in Horenka
P.AGE is a project of the B50 community that provides children’s libraries with modern Ukrainian-language books for the personal development of children. We pay special attention to libraries in communities affected by the occupation or hostilities. As part of the project, we have already delivered sets of books to 22 libraries in different regions of Ukraine. Each set contains 50 books on science, history, art, professions, patriotism, and development, selected for children aged 6 to 17.
We focused on developmental literature because it is lacking in many libraries, especially those affected by the war.
These books help children develop critical thinking and learn about the world through interesting encyclopedias and thematic publications in Ukrainian.
This time, the recipient of our donation was a children’s library in the village of Horenka, which is part of the Hostomel village council. We responded to a request for help from the Gurtum, with which we have repeatedly cooperated in our other projects.
Our friends from Gurtum have taken on an important mission to rebuild the library in Horenka. After the liberation of the village, the library building was in a deplorable state – it needed major repairs.
The Gurtum team carried out a complete renovation of the premises: they dismantled the damaged building, replaced windows and doors, installed new electricity, refreshed the walls, ceiling and floor, and equipped the library with furniture and modern equipment.
The space has become bright, comfortable and completely new – ready to welcome readers.

But there were not enough books for the renovated library. So we decided to help!

As part of the P.AGE project, we donated a set of 50 modern Ukrainian-language books to the children’s library in Horenka, covering a variety of topics, from science and history to art and personal development.
In addition, we handed over more books for children and adults collected by our volunteer Maria, which is another important support for the library to expand its collection and attract new readers.
On 30 September 2024, the renovated LIBRA library in Horenka was officially opened. Today, it is not just a library, but a modern space for educational activities, workshops, creative meetings and cultural events.
We are very pleased that together with Gurtum we can make a real difference for children and communities that have gone through difficult times. Together we are able to create not just rooms with books, but living spaces for development, learning and creativity.
We are grateful to all those who contribute to this important cause – volunteers, partners, friends and donors. Together, we are helping Ukraine’s children build a brighter future.
